Dr. Shandi Connolly-King BA, BSc, DC
Chiropractic, Active Release Technique, Webster Technique, Craniosacral Therapy, Neural and Visceral Manipulation, Rocktape
Dr. Shandi is a family chiropractor from Spruce Grove, AB. She has been a part of the community of St. Albert since finishing grad school. Her treatments go beyond the normal chiropractic adjustments as she uses muscle work and exercises to help patients achieve lasting results and prevent further injury.
Dr. Shandi’s interest in women’s health and children has been a lifelong passion. Her desire to serve led her to two missions to Zambia where she worked at an orphanage and helped at a weekly feeding program for underweight children. It also took her to Peru to work as a chiropractic intern at a children’s centre in one of the shanty towns surrounding Lima.
Dr. Shandi’s first research experience was in perinatal health when she was just 17. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from The King’s University College, where her focus was in research. It was then that Dr. Shandi’s travel bug got restless and took her to Portland, Oregon. There she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Human biology followed by her chiropractic degree, all at the University of Western States. While there, she held the position of president of the Pediatric Club for two years. In early 2014, she was elected as a representative on the executive board of the American Chiropractic Association’s Pediatrics Council, a national chiropractic council focused on increasing awareness for pediatric treatment. Her university education wrapped up with her spending the last 7 months of her internship at a rehab based clinic where she treated athletes and worked closely with a cross fit gym. She truly enjoys finding ways to increase functional movement and getting patients back into their activities.
In 2019, Dr. Shandi joined the ranks of twin moms when she and her husband welcomed twin girls. She is now a certified girl mom, having had another baby girl two years ago. You will often find her girls roaming the clinic. It is incredibly special to share her favourite space with her favourite people. Having navigated our healthcare system through multiple pregnancies has definitely increased her appreciation of what the female body is capably of and also, how far we have to go to properly support expectant and new mamas. She is a nerd at heart, with a special love of Sarah J Maas and Harry Potter, which she prefers to read while cuddling one of her cats, Figaro.
Dr. Shandi is trained in Craniosacral Technique, Webster Technique, ART, and is a registered Rocktape provider. During her last maternity leave, she completed training with KinActive Kids- a physical therapy curriculum focused on supporting kiddos in reaching their milestones. She works closely with many lactation consultants in the St. Albert area as she has a strong background in the biomechanics of latch. She is currently working her way through a Diplomate in Pediatrics. As a lifelong learner, Dr. Shandi believes that her education is never complete; she is always open to new information to expand her knowledge in order to serve future patients the best that she can.
