Rocktape (kinesio taping)

Sometimes our muscles and joints need a little extra support following treatment. Rocktape provides that needed stability. It works by decompressing the area. This allows for better superfiscial nerve function- which allows for better muscle activation and increased blood flow- bringing nutrients and clearing waste materials from an injured area- speeding healing.

Most people relate taping with athletes, which is absolutely a good reason to tape. Extra stability heading into high load events can be very helpful. Bruising is another great use for tape as the research shows that it can decrease the lifetime of a bruise. However, we find we use it most often to get pain relief that allows our patients greater ease of movement. While taped, this is an excellent time to get in that homework we often give you. Make those muscles work for you!

Conditions we tape the most tend to be tendon injuries like: epicondylitis (tennis or golf elbows), de quervain’s tenosynovitis (mommy thumb), plantar fasciitis. We also find success with low back pain and many shoulder and knee injuries.
